Sycamore Hill Herb Farm was founded in 2007 and is located in Massillon, Ohio. The home was built in 1922 and has transformed with each owner. The home originally sat on a 36 acre tract of land and was owned by the Stoner family who raised goats.
The next owners opened the home as a chicken restaurant, the full service kitchen was located in the basement and a dumb waiter was used to bring the food to the first floor banquet rooms, the owners lived on the second floor of the home.
The next owner was Rear Admiral O'Rear and is wife, the admiral served on the battleship Arizona in World War II. While the property was still very private it had an attraction, a 2 acre spring fed pond fully stocked with many different kinds of fish. Rumor has it that the Admiral carried a pistol and had 2 dogs that kept the local fisherman out of his fishing hole.
The current owners bought the home in 2006 and hired a contractor to do a total remodel of the home. The home now sits on 9 acres and still has the fully stocked pond. The additions to the home included removing walls to make the master suite larger. A new kitchen and a butler kitchen.
The current owner's host lunchs at the home on the weekends by reservation and book special events including weddings, showers, rehersal dinners and other special occasion celebrations.
The lunch is only the start of the total experience at Sycamore Hill Herb Farm, after eating a gourmet lunch, you can take a tour of the home, shop the unique gift shop and walk the 9 acres of gardens.
Special events are held on the large varanda overlooking the 9 acres, in the new garden dining room or you can dine on the patio surrounded by gardens, or at the gazebo next to the pond.
Fresh herb beds were planted in the Spring of 2008 and the herbs are used in preparing lunch and dinners for their guests. All of the herbs that are used and sold at Sycamore Hill Herb Farm are organic.
If you need to book a lunch during the week or a special dinner the owner's will be happy to host that special dinner or lunch also.
